I didn't know Moore's Law was originally based around processing power doubling every year. It seems the two-year "Law" was an update in 1975.

Irrespective, it is close to incredible that it has held so true for forty years but it seems to be finally slowing down, to "only" doubling every 2.5 years. I guess the question now is whether 2.5 is the new norm or the start of a taper to ever-longer cycles.
